Several merchant account cost calculators can be found on the web to enable quick computations of monthly or yearly processing costs based on your current or expected monthly sales volume and average ticket (item price) amount.  Some of these include pre-loaded data for selected processors including third party processors.  The number of cost items included in the calcuations varies significantly among the calculators.  The more cost items included, the more accurate the computed costs.  You can use these calculators to help you determine the best options based on your business profile.  Compare the results of one calculator against another for verification of accuracy.

• The Maculator Merchant Account Cost Comparison Calculator includes pre-loaded data for over a dozen representative merchant accounts  and 37 third party credit card processors which can be selected with a drop-down list.   The list of providers can also be filtered by various features including < 3% rates, free fees, multi-languages, multi-currencies, digital only, high risk content and others.  It provides input fields for monthly sales dollars and monthly sales number.  The monthly costs for two selected processors are calculated and compared side-by-side.  You can also enter rates for any other processor including discount rate, transaction fee, batch header fee, monthly gateway fee, monthly statement fee, annual fee and yearly fee.  The Maculator gives you the option to save your data and compare any number of processor rates in one view.
  
  
• The Merchant Account Fee Calculator by Merchant Account Forum enables you to predict your takings for various merchant accounts based on sales volume. To use it, you can either enter in the transaction fee, discount rate and monthly fee from a merchant account you've seen advertised, or select a merchant account from the drop-down list which will automatically fill the above three values in. Then enter your estimated average ticket value (i.e. the average sale value from your website) and the number of units you hope to sell, then click on the calculate button.  The drop-down list includes 8 processors, including a few 3rd party processors.
  
  
• The Merchant Account Comparison by Digitally Justified Technologies allows you to enter your average monthly sales volume and the number of transactions.   The outcome is a list of  monthly costs for 30 providers including a half dozen 3rd party processors.   The monthly costs include total monthly fees, setup fee, discount rate, transaction fee and other details.  You cannot enter rates to compare other providers that are not listed.
  
  
• The Merchant Account Rate Calculator by 121MerchantAccount.com allows you to enter the discount rate, transaction fee, statement fee, average ticket and number of transactions.  It calculates the total sales, processing costs and revenue you keep.  No pre-loaded data for merchant account providers or 3rd party processors are included.
  
  
• The Merchant Rates Calculator by MerchantRates.com provides input fields for your business name, e-mail, contact name, phone, zip code, current processing status, industry, equipment needs, annual fee, transaction fee, monthly statement fee, number of locations and average ticket amount.  The output of this form is an Instant Merchant Account Rate Quote.  All fields are required.  No pre-loaded provider information is included.
  
  
• The Merchant Account Cost Calculator by Teniosoft is a functional sample of the software to generate the calculator.  It allows you to enter the merchant accoun name, monthly fee, charge per transaction, percentage per transaction, average sale and transactions per month.  It produces the average transaction fee, total fees per month, total sales and net revenue.  No pre-loaded provider information is included.
  
  
• The Interactive Fee Calculator by Alphabetware.com calculates yearly processing costs with input fields for gateway setup fee, gateway monthly fee, discount rate, transaction fee, monthly transaction number and average transaction amount.  Pre-loaded data for PayPal and one generic (unidentified) merchant account are included.
  
  
• The PayPal Compare Calculator by 1-Hit.com provides only two input fields for average sale amount and monthly sales amount.  The output is a calculation of cost per year and cost per transaction for Electronic Transfer, PayPal, 2CheckOut, StormPay and ClickBank.  No other processors or cost profiles can be compared.
  
  
• The Merchant Fees Calculator by iKobo calculates fees for their own merchant processing services by allowing you to enter the item sale amount.  On the same page, they also include a Person-to-Person calculator for transfering money to another individual.  No other processors can be entered or selected.
